“JEWELLERY IS ALL ABOUT REFLECTING YOUR OWN PERSONAL STYLE AND UNIQUENESS. HANDCRAFTED PIECES THAT CELEBRATE LIFE, BEAUTY, FAMILY AND FRIENDS.” – MAGDEL KINGHORN
Meet Magdel Kinghorn, a proudly south african jeweler from Somerset West. She studied BA fine Art (Jewellery and Metal techniques) at the University of Stellenbosch and now has a home studio based in Stellenberg, where you are welcome to go have a visit. She also sells her magnificent handmade goods at markets, but the best way to get your hands on these jewls, is on her website.
(Click here to visit her online shop.)
Having extensive background in the Fine Jewellery Industry, she started manufacturing her own jewellery in sterling silver. Staple pieces that tell a story about her: her style, her uniqueness, her life.
Every time she wore one of her handcrafted pieces; someone wanted to buy it. She started doing commissions, and MK Handmade jewellery was born (2012). She realized that she could create her own brand of jewellery which meant freedom in many aspects of her life….”Freedom to create and do what I love.” – Magdel Kinghorn
I was so fortunate enough to get my hands on not one MK Jewellery pendant, but two. She is all about custom pieces and I didn’t hesitate to get both pendants engraved.
Donut and silwer wire pendant: “17-05-1988”
Long quote pendant: “Bryce”
(It is my boyfriend’s name and birth date)
It came with a sterling silver cleaning cloth in a beautiful floral bag.
Cleaning your MK Jewellery Pendants:
Silver is soft and can become scratched easily. You can use a special silver cloth, as seen in the image above, to polish your items. Do not use paper towels or tissues to polish your jewelry as they contain fibers that can scratch the silver.
When polishing, use long back-and-forth motions that mirror the grain of the silver. Do not rub in circles, as this will magnify any tiny scratches. Also, change to a different section of your cloth frequently to avoid placing tarnish back on the silver. You can use a Q-tip to get into small, detailed areas.
The good news is,she does not only sell pendants… you can also find earrings, rings, bracelets etc. Go check out her online shop to see what she has to offer. The quality is excellent and the design simple, yet beautiful.
I LOVE MY MK JEWELLERY!
