Let me start by saying this… (This is not for the fainthearted ) I don’t own MAC makeup. Firstly, it is expensive and secondly, it is expensive.
I often go to the shops to see what the cheapest alternative is for the product I am looking for. I am also the person that sorts by price. From low to high obviously – So I am most likely to see a product online for very cheap and cringing to buy it.
I have done some research as to fake vs real makeup products and I saw how scary and dangerous it can be to apply fake makeup to your face… I mean just look at this…
I spent a lot of time reading different sites (The boys were watching the footy) and thought I’d share what to look out for when buying brand name beauty products such as MAC.
Eyeshadow pot, top angled (pink: real, black: fake)
1. MAC eyeshadows have a very even, matte sheen to their pots. You will notice that all of the ones on the left hand side will have an even and a wider glow to them when you shine a light to them. The fake MAC eyeshadow on the right have a sharper, more uneven looking shine to them

5. On the back, there are two holes that hinges the lid of the makeup. I tried my best to get good pictures, but the real one on the left is very symmetrical and smooth. The one on the right has jagged edges and looks like someone just put a hot stick on the plastic to melt the holes there.

8. Here’s that rounder font again on the bottom. All the counterfeit ones have the same Barcode number ending in 00101-9 and the same exact ingredients list regardless of color.
Seeing these products side by side, makes it easy to identify. But when you don’t own the original..like me… DON’T JUDGE, it is almost impossible to notice the difference at first glance.
hope this helps…
